How does this make us understand evolution better? Her theory isn't even one that is widely accepted by other evolutionists. Even your link calls her theory "on the fringe."
If her theory is true: where did the first DNA for either bacteria or virus come from?
Also, what evidence does she have that a bacteria causes "random" mutations that will result in a new function? (ie - how did bacteria cause a lizard to mutate to a mammal?)
This doesn't seem to clarify the evolutionary waters, only muddy it even more
